For the not-so-crafty or time strapped mama wanting custom Disney themed shirts for your vacation, try this quick and easy iron on method.
Blank t-shirt or onesie
Tape measure or ruler
Piece of cardboard to put between shirt layers
Iron on transfer sheets
Computer and printer
Step 1) After gathering all of your supplies, print your desired image onto the transfer paper. If you don’t want to design your own, several etsy sellers offer high quality images for sale. For this tutorial, I purchased the Minnie image from swirlycolorpixels on etsy. You can find other images on etsy by clicking here.
Step 2) Cut out the design to be ironed onto the shirt. Be sure to cut as close to the image as you can.
Step 3) Iron the shirt you will be transferring the image onto.
Step 4) Place your cardboard piece between the shirt layers to prevent bleeding through. Using your ruler or tape measure, lay the image face down onto the shirt.
Step 5) Following the manufacturer instructions, iron the image onto the shirt. Be careful not to move the image once you begin ironing.
Step 6) Allow the image to cool completely and gently peel back the image sheet to admire your new creation!
To prolong the life of your shirt, turn it inside out before washing and hang to dry.
Cost of this project:
Onesie: $2.00 at Michaels Craft Store from clearance area
Iron on transfer sheets: $4.49 for 10 at Michaels Craft Store (I used a 50% off coupon, regularly $8.99)
Minnie image from etsy.com: $2.00.
